William Walker
Leadership Coach, Educator and Speaker
Forged By Challenge
William Walker is an executive coach, men’s coach, educator, speaker, and author who works with executives, leadership teams, entrepreneurs, professionals, and men seeking to lead with greater clarity, resilience, confidence, and impact.
For over two decades, William has devoted his life to helping men and leaders grow in courage, authenticity, communication, resilience, and leadership. His work spans executive coaching, men’s coaching, leadership development, experiential retreats and challenges, university teaching, speaking engagements, and customized leadership development programs for organizations and teams.
Over the years, he has worked with executives, entrepreneurs, leadership teams, physicians, lawyers, pilots, first responders, veterans, university students, at-risk teenage boys, inmates, and First Nations groups. Exposure to so many different people, leadership contexts, and high-pressure environments has given him a grounded and deeply human perspective on growth, leadership, performance, and what it truly takes to lead effectively under pressure.
William’s perspective on leadership has been shaped through years of deliberate challenge, reflective practice, and lived experience. He believes leadership is forged through courage, resilience, humility, and human connection. He has spent thousands of hours studying psychology, leadership, communication, adult development, meditation, and human behaviour, while continually seeking experiences that challenged him physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. This has included walking the Appalachian Trail in winter for 68 days, leading wilderness expeditions and retreats, remote wilderness trips, stand-up comedy, and other discomfort-based challenges designed to strengthen resilience, self-awareness, adaptability, and growth.
Alongside his private coaching work, William has facilitated leadership workshops, retreats, and experiential development programs for organizations and teams seeking stronger communication, resilience, and leadership effectiveness. He has taught leadership and communication at the University of Ottawa and within MBA programs, and has worked with organizations including RBC, Abbott Laboratories, McGill University, ACASS, and other high-performance teams and organizations.
William has worked as a management consultant with MNP, one of Canada’s leading consulting firms, and as an outdoor leadership facilitator with Outward Bound Canada and Boys to Men Canada. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, an MBA in Sports Management, is a certified Integral Therapist, a professionally trained coach, and a Wilderness First Responder certified through Wilderness Medical Associates.
William is the author of Walk of Honor, a narrative exploration of resilience, masculinity, suffering, and leadership forged through challenge, vulnerability, and human connection.
